March Embroidery Adventure - Just when you hear the birds and think its Spring ... It Snows :(

It's Spring! ... no there's SNOW again ... Now it's WARM ... no the WIND is cold .... AHHHHHHHHH (Me going inside to stitch)

It's Spring and new things are coming to the store this month and all year long!

I have lots of new patterns ready for Pre-Order that have launched this month during the Annual Needlework Market held in Nashville. I didn't attend in person but I have been following some of the wonderful designers on Facebook and Instagram!

If you can't wait, I suggest trying PDF instant Download and you support the Designer with 100% of your purchase price. I am always here for your thread and fabric needs!!

New in March as well, are Metric cuts of Fabric! I have a new Canadian supplier of Zweigart fabrics directly from Germany.

But don't worry, there are still Imperial measurements on the listing so you can double check you have enough fabric for your design.

Happy Stitching Everyone!

Embroidery Tip of the Month

How much fabric do I need!

If you are unsure about how much fabric you need to purchase for a pattern, you can email to have me do the math or ....

Here is the formula I use when I am figuring it out

What is your DESIGN SIZE (the stitch count)?

How much of a border do you want (most times 2"-3")?

What count size of fabric are you using? Remember Evenweave and Linen are stitched over "2 Fabric Threads" so 32 count has 16 stitches to the inch!

Call me Crafty by Hands on Designs

Stitch Count: 63 x 92

Suggested Fabric: Linen 32ct Antique White Belfast

63 (stitches) / 16 (stitches per inch) = 3.93" or 4" wide

92 (stitches) / 16 (stitches per inch) = 5.75" or 6" wide

PLUS 3" on each side ... or 6" total

4" + 6" = 10" and 6" + 6" = 12"

I NEED A SMALL CUT!

10" x 12" will fit a Small Cut ~13.5" x 18"

A 3-part Mini Series to celebrate the Crafty in all of us! Designed by Hands of Designs and released this year. Open for Pre-Order

ntroducing METRIC cuts of fabric!

Starting in March 2025, I will be ordering some fabrics from a Canadian Supplier who imports from Zwiegart directly.  These fabrics are purchased in Meters and I will slowly transition the available fabrics to this size. There is a limited colour range and some Zweigart fabrics will still need to be sourced with a USA distributor.

Crewel Work Company Jacobean Twill (UK) will also be sold in meter cuts.

Companies such as Fabric Flair (UK) and Permin (Denmark) are still sourced with a USA distributor at this time and will stay by the yard.

Old sizes of fabric will be available for purchase until they are sold out and then the fabric/colour will be only available in metric sizes.

Use the "Browse By" dropdown menu to sort the Collection by Fabric Count, Fabric Colour or Fabric Type

I am always adding new items to the website and looking for recommendations!

I am on the hunt to add more Canadian Designers and Creators to my website. If you have a suggestion please email. You will find some featured on my homepage this month

Feel free to forward this newsletter to stitching friends, they can sign up on of my website's homepage.
