Mary Barton's Work: An antique reproduction
In stock - 1 copy
From the website:
I love this wacky bird! This design is a reproduction of a needlepoint/tapestry in my collection. I love the rich, autumnal colours, but I have not idea what kind of bird that's meant to be!
The model is stitched on 32-count 'Ale' by Picture This Plus, using Weeks Dye Works/Classic Colorworks & Gentle Arts, and the chart has a full DMC conversion.
The design has a stitch count of 84w x 90h (although some extra room should be left around the sides. It uses full crosses over 2, with the text in full crosses over 1. It is stitched 2 over 2; with 1 strand used for the text. The over one text makes this unsuitable for Aida (although if you wanted to leave out the text, Aida would be great).
I have finished it using some embroidery stitches on a background of French General fabric, to fit in a standard 8x10 inch frame. If you want to frame it traditionally, it will fit in a standard 5x7 inch frame. Visit my blog at mojostitches.com for finishing tips.
Overdyed cottons used are:
Weeks Dye Works: Onyx, Dirt Road & Jay Bird
Classic Colorworks: Sweetest Heart, Colonial Rose, Campfire, Pine Needles, Caramel, Camouflage, Prairie Grass & Bunny Hunny
Gentle Arts: Cranberry, Pumpkin Patch, Autumn & Straw Bonnet.
