Silk d'Alger - Hand Dyed Collections
*Currently in stock - Most colours (Elephant, Knysna Forest out of stock)
From the Au Ver a Soie website:
This silk is loosly plyed and can be split easily. It doesn't come from Algeria. The name "Alger" refers to a special domestic process.
It is made of the best quality spun silk (called strusas) which gives it an unrivalled regularity, lustrous and softness. Contrary to our competitors, our thread does not snarl in the needle and has a good tensile strength. It resists also very well to abrasion. We make great care, great pains to see that this product is properly made. It is considered as a reference thread in all needlework activities.
From the Chameleon Threads website:
Dyeing is the process of adding colour to yarns, also an age old skill. At Chameleon we have been producing hand dyed embroidery threads to cater for this; (hand embroidery) specific art form for more than 15 years. Each thread is available in single colour or in unique variegated skeins, in stranded cottons, perle and silks. Chameleon make use of DMC base products for all our cottons, perle and rayon threads and Alger and Paris from Au Ver a Soie for our silk threads.
Hand dying threads take time and skill to produce. At Chameleon we aim to have consistent colour batches but due to the hand dyeing process colours can vary.
When ordering Chameleon threads please ensure you order sufficient quantities to complete your unique masterpiece (project). Orders will be placed at the begining of each month for any out of stock colours.
