Wow, May was a month that flew by too fast!
I am back in Calgary now after my Pop Up Event in Regina during the EAC/ACB (Embroiderers' Association of Canada) national teaching seminar. It was lovely to meet stitchers from across Canada, both new and old friends and personally, I am looking forward to being part of organizing next years event here in my home city of Calgary! I am a member of the Calgary Guild of Needle and Fibre Arts (www.cgnfa.ca) and there will be lots of updates over the summer!
This month I wanted to add some brightness to everyone's stitching lives by featuring the fun stitching designs of Hannah Dale of Wrendale Designs and "spotlight" the pattern fabrics featured in her kits (pun totally intended!)
June is also Pride Month here in Canada, the perfect time to embrace who you are and let all your colours shine!

Patterned Fabric - From Fabric Flair and Zwiegart
Patterned fabrics with a printed motif are a great way to add visual interest to designs without having to stitch all the spots!! Zweigart has released a selection of "Splash" prints on White or Grey fabric.

Bothy Thread in the UK is the supplier of the Cross stitch kits of the wonderful designs of Hannah Dale. You can find her artwork on many items including kitchenware and fabric. The chart includes two different sized graphs so you can make it to fit your phone, and instructions for lining and finishing your purse.

Embroidery Tip for June

Beat the Heat Summer Retreat!
August 10 & 11, 2024
Meadowlark Park Hall - Calgary
During my Spring Retreat in April there was a request to do another one in the Summer. Not everyone is able to go away during the summer so I have brought the 'vacation' to the city!
For $40 reserve your seat for 2 days of stitching and visiting (9am-5pm) each day, leave your stitching set up overnight and take the evening to hang out with your friends over dinner at any of the nearby restaurants along Macloed Trail.
If you can't come to stitch no worries, it's Free to shop in the afternoons as I will have my Store set up with all my threads, notions and Fabric ready for you to browse in person!
If you are out of town and visiting Calgary during one of our many events during the summer (including Stampede) you are welcome to set up a 'store' appointment and browse. Just email me to set up a day and time!
