This past year I have been looking to create a way to support charities across Canada. As there are so many worthy charities that help Canadians I thought I would change it up from year to year. This year I thought I would start with The Canadian Cancer Society. Both my maternal grandparents had cancer and the support of the society was very much appreciated by my family.

I took a class this year with my local stitching group (Calgary Guild of Needle and Fibre Arts) where we learned to fold mini paper boxes to hold thread or beads or, as I use mine waste thread pieces. These are fun to create and can easily tuck into your sewing bag.
I have been offering them as an add on purchase of $2.00 to your order with the money set aside for donation. When I saw that my donation would be matched I took the opportunity to donate this fund. I also "rounded it up" to a full $500 as thank you on behalf of all my customers and their support this past year.
I hope this encourages you to find a charity that 'speaks to your heart' and to support them this holiday season.
